Vintage Project Evaluation

The era I chose was the 50s. The reason I chose this period was because I have always been in love with the fashion and hairstyles. The morals were better and there was less sexual pressure, Rudeness and nudity, more worn was better. Many woman had more respect for their selves. The research I did was mainly on images and information on Pinterest where there were facts about a certain image which linked into the 1950s, when searched. I was able to sketch the influence of the image for my sketch book I decided to look more at fashion, specifically women's fashion. Although, the technology, music and films all played a big part in styling the 50s, I believe fashion was very important and is what makes the decade distinct and recongnisable. The main movements were abstract expressionism, it tells me that this era was stepping into a colourful period, evolving from the black and white films and pictures. Some artists I’ve chose to look at are Albert Kotin and also Art Smith. Albert Kotin was involved in abstract expressionism and art smith was involved in jewelry.

The media I have chose are brusho inks, brown and black card, print outs, acrylics, coloured pencil, water colour and fine liner felt tip in colour. I believe the effectiveness of brusho inks were strong due to the colour intensity which is opposite to how the 50s were portrayed. Also, the card helped create a clean and precise living colour effect. I haven't done a wide  creative presentation of my annotations, but I have used coloured card and tracing paper for some of them. I have managed my time well as I haven't rushed to complete or be in front. However, in my spare time I did pages and ended up being further ahead than others. I could have got my pages the same way and had been more creative with the presentation of my annotations and maybe been more creative with my use of media. I enjoyed exploring the 50s era and finding out things I didn’t know and have found useful facts to know.
