Day 3 - V&A

Today I worked mostly in returning and retrieving books that were to go back. I was working with Hannah, who has worked at the V&A around 6 weeks, and we were based in the crypt which needed a key in the elevator to get to gound 0. First we did some retrievals and as there were books ready to be returned we also put them back while down there. When we came back we went through the main part if the museum and went through rolling stacks east to use the elevator to get to floor 1. Later, I worked with Hannah again to log books that had been retrieved by staff as "filled" and then shelved them under certain letters of their names. We logged the books either by scanning them or inputting them manually.
After a break, I shadowed book logging until dinner and then began a pressmark quiz at my desk in the office.
Later we began talking to Aiysha more about counter work (book returns, book collections and logging them back onto the system.) We also learnt a bit about the Special Collections and how they had to be invigilated by a member of staff at all times due to their age and how fragile they were.
After this we had to return all the books which had  been logged and put back onto the trolleys. This was easy but some were harder than others.
