Tracy Lewis Critical Study FMP

Tracy Lewis is an artist I found on Instagram who I thoughts work was very pretty, feminine and unique. I love the way she uses water colours to create a soft look with pastel colours of flowers, animals and portraits. Her individual choice of colours are also interesting with light pink, baby blue and light tones of yellow all work together and blend to the best of efforts. She sees the beauty in things and draws them out with colour and delecate form. I want to be able to do this as I believe where Pin Up is a classical beauty the way Lewis creates her work is classical beauty in it's own way.
Looking at the piece I have decided to study, it is a close up of a peony but the actual painting is on a large scale. I love how despite how big the painting is it looks small on instagram and being able to get art to look good no matter what size is hard. She frills the petals to add extra realistic effects, with darkened colours for shadowing rather than grey or black. Like I said, she draws out the beauty from things leaving no flaws. I also like how she takes time to make sure each individual petal is outlined well with colour. Theres a lot I'd like to take from this piece to put in my background.
My version I believe is a lot like the original, I used water colour to do this and it worked well but it was hard getting the right consistency with every brush stroke, sometimes it would be too dark or too light. I believe despite this it worked well. I could have been a lot neater on my lines and got rid of the pencil markings before hand. I used good tones and shaded well for certain areas. The small yeallow pieces of the flower could be more detailed. I want to work on this before I decide to use it in my work.
