Final Piece

For my final Piece of Unit 10, I will be producing my work on a canvas. Prior to begining the foreground, the canvas material has been placed in a turqoise dye and usong elastic bands I have created a tye-dye effect. This has then been streatched out to create a fully mounted wooden canvas. Using the background as a interpritation of the sea and its abstract and intense colours, I have used my foreground to link to the background, with the foreground together.  The composition is very wide and full. The persepective and aspect of this image os much like you are underneath it. My foreground consists of the mouth and tentacles of a octapus. This is in its most realistic form as possible. I have then  used the same inspiration seen in my experiments and designs of Gustavsson to create the mostion, that of which the octopus is falling towards us. I believe that the realism is inspired by both Gustavsson and Verbiest but I have used my own ideas and interests to portray this piece. The oils were hard to work with and would sink quickly into the calico. But I managed to work with this by using an underlayer of paint on my foreground.

Experimentation for Final Piece

I began to look at Marble effects and used indpiration to gain a multi-coloured effect which draws out different tones and shades of one colour. This was done in Ultra-Marie and I dried it by hairdryer, so the brusho ink would spread and it left me with interesting colours and blends of purple and tints of blue from using a white background. I will most likely use this on my final pieces background using a canvas instead. However the brusho will not take as well due to the wax layer on the canvas material, so instead I will dye it turqoise and use the method of tye-dye to capture a similar effect.  I will then either use acrylic or Oil to paint the main form of my final design to get a thickness and texture from it which makes the foreground stands out from the  background looking a composure, lighting and shadowing.

Health and Saftey in Workshops

Print:
Health and saftey was to keep the use of tools alway working away from you to avoid injury and also to use a table block to keep your lino in place. Wearing gloves could also help in case you have allergies and an apron to avoid damage to your clothes.

3D:
Considering health and saftey in 3D when doing Pyrography, is that the pen has a circular metal plate that goes around the mid section of the pen so your fingers dont slip and touch the nib and also how to place it in its stand when complete. We also went through keeping a safe distance and watching fingers,  hands and clothing getting caught and burnt and the procedure to do so if it did happen (cold running water and contacting first aid)

Workshop Design Idea's

I began working on these comsidering the things I could do in the workshop such as pyrography and lino prints. I believe these work well considering my love for the ocean and the inspiration from Martin Gustavsson. In the top right hand corner this is the design for my wood workshop, however, i may use it for other workshops as it is a simple and easy design to recreate in different media.

Workshop - Print

I enjoyed doing this workshop as i got to look at more detail in my designs using small pieces of Lino to creat a great print. I used tools to cut out my desired pattern after I had drawn a design to relate to my other experiments, then, I free hand drew it onto the lino. Once complete, I used printing paint and rolled out a mixture of red and black with mostly red in it and used a roller to transfer the paint onto my limo, I then created a print after press rolling it onto a similar sized piece of paper.
After, i thought I'd do something different and make a monoprint which turned out to be very intense and stood out. I believe this went well and fits perfectly in opposition to the other. It has a realistic but abstract effect.

Health and saftey was to keep the use of tools alway working away from you to avoid injury and also to use a table block to keep your lino in place. Wearing gloves could also help in case you have allergies and an apron to avoid damage to your clothes.

Workshop - 3D

Today I went into the 3D workshop to work on experiments for  my Final Piece. I had already drawn my plan and had asked for an A4 sized piece of MDF wooden board. On this board I used tracing paper to copy my original design onto the wood, however, it wasnt taking to the wood so i free handed the design. My tutor then guided me on how to use the Pyrograph pen considering health and saftey, that the pen has a circular metal plate that goes around the mid section of the pen so your fingers dont slip and touch the nib and also how to place it in its stand when complete. We also went through keeping a safe distance and watching fingers,  hands and clothing getting caught and burnt and the procedure to do so if it did happen (cold running water and contacting first aid). I also tried out some methods first of shading before starting. After this I began to create a synge mark on the outline of my design, it was hard to get a well defined line but i began to do small sections to overcome this issue. The final outcome was how I expected ot and went really well. I believe this may be a great way to do my final piece.

Photography

Through out my stay in London, I noticed there were some photographable scenery, objects and people. I decided to photograph them to use for my art course.
Some photos have been took in my perspective others have just been took as they inspired me and caught my eye.

V&A - Fabric Of India

My views of this exhibition are just that the use of materials and the veriety if materials are incredible. One piece was made from Beetle wings and with how beautiful the fabric is unique and impossible to remake as man-made. The other fabric is very uniquely coloured much like this one but is natural but made from cotton, silk and other. Some of the material is incredibly strong due to its age and how easily it can be hung or displayed.

Civic Theatre

At the Civic, we were introduced to an element of textile work. All of the work was made from wool and showed me personally what you can be capable making from wool. It also showed different styles and uses for the wool and how they're important to culture.

Cooper Gallery

This exhibition would be very inspirational to someone who may be looking more into photography in their work and black and white. The fact these photographers have taken photos of famous/well known people who have lived in Yorkshire is really relatable to my project 'The World I Live In'. This may be relates to the photographer and also me personally. Altogether each piece is a good example of angles, views and perspective which captures the true likeness of the models character.

Print Making Workshop

My work is inspired by Sin City which is one of my favorite movies, I chose my favorite character and did a few drafts of my piece before i began eorking in the lino. I then printed it out in black and red, choosing different styles each time.
